Contact Information
First Name: Edith
Last Name: Yeung
Story: Born and raised in Hong Kong, I came to the United Stated as an exchange student when I was 16. After spending 5 years in the Midwest, I moved to sunny California and had a great run with the software & consulting industry. Earlier last year, I realized there is so much more to life than just working for the man, so I decided to leave and go after something that I really care about. Along the way, I co-founded Clue Market with my business partner Andrzej and also started SFentrepreneur.
Company: With over 1,400 entrepreneur members and growing, SFentrepreneur is the first San Francisco social network community focusing on publicizing entrepreneurs, their passion and businesses. Our mission is to promote entrepreneurship and make a difference to the world through expert entrepreneur talks, networking events and by providing online and in person opportunities for members to promote their dreams and making them a reality.
Company Name: SFentrepreneur
Product Description: The SFentrepreneur community provides: 1) Monthly networking opportunities for members to meet in person 2) Learning opportunities with expert entrepreneurs such as Seth Godin and Chip Conley. 3)Marketing and PR opportunities for members to promote themselves online
Difference: I believe entrepreneurs are the most creative bunch on earth. I am thankful that I am surrounded by these amazingly smart people who all want to make this world a better place. SFentrepreneur will help all entrepreneurs to make this happen.
Passion: Connecting people and making things happen from nothing to something.
Inspiration: Dr. Muhammad Yunus. I am inspired by his dream of ending poverty by 2020. Can you imagine a world with no poor people, a true poverty-free world?
Motivation: Knowing that every day is another amazing day of creation and fulfillment.
Success: Of course SFentrepreneur! The group only has 700 people when I first started and now we have almost doubled the size in less than 9 months!
Challenge: I lost a few friends as I was building my career. I didn't know how it happened at the time, but now looking back... I think I was too focused on my goal, didn't slow down and pay attention to the people around me. Relationships are like flowers. You need to care for them so it can grow. It takes time to gloom a solid relationship and it takes seconds to break one. My lessons learned is admit that it is your fault and be there when people need you.
Advice: I love this quote by the Confucius: Of course you want to be rich and famous. It's natural. Wealth and fame are what every man desires. The question is: What are you willing to trade for it?" Go after whatever you want and do whatever it takes. It's going to happen and you know it.
Website: www.sfentrepreneur.com
Calling: Yes... I don't see any other way but going after what I really care about. I love creating things from nothing to something. I love being my own boss and not having to worry about getting approval for what I really want to do. No more annual performance review and asking for a raise. I am in charge and I love it!
Keywords: sfentrepreneur, entrepreneur community, san francisco, san jose
Business Model: Events and online sponsorship.
Pain: Entrepreneurs want to find and be with their own clan – other entrepreneurs. The entrepreneurial journey could be lonely sometimes.
